Case Studies
The MES Planning coursework is largely done and the approved research phase is upon me. The project, Retrofitting Concrete Utopias: Climate Change Adaptation for Mid-Century Housing Stock, is, perhaps, ambitious, but the fieldwork has been planned and my prospective case studies in Europe have been identified. This is what I have so far to visit in April and May, 2023 (feel free to follow the links, and write me if you have more I should look at, or will be around to join me for walk abouts at the sites):

Freiburg-Vauban
Abandoned military district, inhabited by “squatters” who organized Forum Vauban, and created a revolutionary eco-community, work spanning from 1993 to completion in 2006. Modern Vauban today represents the very cutting edge of sustainable living.
